Ductless Mini-Splits in Oakesdale

A mini-split heats and cools a room with no ducts at all. We measure the space, pick the right size head, mount it where the air will actually reach you, and fix the ones that quit by finding out why first.

When a Mini-Split Is the Right Call

A ductless mini-split is a heat pump in two pieces. The outdoor part mounts on a small pad or a bracket on the wall. Inside, one or more heads hang high on a wall, tied to the outdoor unit by a refrigerant line set, a power cable and a drain line that pass through a small hole. Each head is controlled separately. A spare room can sit idle while the room you're in stays warm or cool.

They make sense for an addition, a finished garage or a shop room, a bonus room over the garage, or an older house that was built with baseboard or wall heaters and no ducts. They also fix the one room that never matches the rest of the house.

They are not right for every job. If your home already has good ducts and a furnace, a ducted heat pump or a new AC may be the better fit. We will tell you which one, and why, before you spend anything.

What Our Mini-Split Work Includes

Room-by-room sizing
We measure each room and look at windows, insulation and which way it faces. Too big a head cycles on and off fast and never pulls the moisture out, so the room feels damp. Too small a head runs nonstop and still falls behind on a January night.
Head and outdoor unit placement
We place heads where air can sweep the room, not just where the wall is empty. The outdoor unit goes up off the ground and clear of roof drip lines so snow and ice don't bury it.
Line set, drain and electrical
We run the line set and condensate drain cleanly, seal the wall hole and cover the lines outside. We pressure test and pull a vacuum before releasing refrigerant, which is the step that keeps leaks and moisture out.
Mini-split repair
For a unit that blinks a code, drips water or stops heating, we read the fault, check refrigerant pressures, sensors and the drain, and tell you what we found. Repairs carry our 1-year labor warranty on all repairs.
Rebate help
Mini-splits are heat pumps. We give help claiming Avista rebates and federal tax credits on heat pumps, including the paperwork details you need from the install.

Signs Your Home Could Use a Mini-Split, or a Mini-Split Needs Service

  • One room is always off

The bedroom over the garage or the sunroom runs ten degrees hotter or colder than the rest of the house. A single head solves that without touching the main system.

  • You heat with baseboards or space heaters

Electric resistance heat is simple but costly to run. A mini-split moves heat instead of making it, and it gives you cooling in summer from the same unit.

  • Water dripping from the indoor head

Usually a clogged or poorly sloped drain line, sometimes a frozen coil from low refrigerant. We find which one before we fix anything.

  • Blinking lights or an error code

The code points to an area, not a part. We test the sensor, board or compressor it relates to so you are not paying for a guess.

  • Weak heat on the coldest days

Some older or undersized units fade hard in deep cold. That can be a dirty coil or low charge, or it can mean the unit was never sized for the room.

What Moves the Price of a Mini-Split

No two mini-split jobs cost the same, because no two homes have the same rooms. The price comes down to how many heads you need, how far the lines run and what the electrical panel can handle. Your written quote lists each of these so you can see where the money goes.

Number of zones

Each indoor head adds equipment and labor. A multi-zone outdoor unit costs more than a single-zone one but can serve several rooms.

Line set distance

When the head mounts on an outside wall with the condenser just below it, the run is short and simple. Lines that travel through an attic or across a second story take more copper and more hours.

Electrical capacity

The outdoor unit needs its own circuit. A full or older panel may need work before the system can go in.

Cold-climate equipment

Units rated to keep heating well below zero cost more up front. On the Palouse, where winter nights get bitter, they are often worth it if the mini-split is your main heat.

Repair findings

A cleared drain is a small job. A failed board or a refrigerant leak that needs finding and brazing is a bigger one. We show you what we found before we quote it.

How a Mini-Split Job Runs

  1. 1

    Call and site visit

It starts with a phone call. We pick a time that works and come see the rooms in person. Estimates are free on installations and replacements, and on a repair the diagnostic fee is credited toward the repair.

  2. 2

    Written quote

You get a written quote before any work begins, showing the equipment, the number of heads, line set length and any electrical work. Nothing starts until you say yes.

  3. 3

    Install day

We lay drop cloths, mount the heads and outdoor unit, drill and seal the wall penetration, then run lines and power. Most single-head jobs are done in a day; multi-room systems take longer.

  4. 4

    Test and walkthrough

We vacuum and pressure test the lines, start the system, check heating and cooling output at each head, and show you the remote and filter cleaning. Then we clean up and haul off the packaging.

Mini-Split Questions We Get

Can a mini-split heat my whole house?

Sometimes. A small, open, well-insulated house can run on one or two heads. A house with many closed-off rooms usually needs several heads or a ducted system instead. We look at the layout and tell you straight.

Will it keep up in winter?

A cold-climate model sized right will heat through most winter weather. On the coldest nights some homes keep a backup, like existing baseboards. We will tell you if your setup needs one.

How big is the hole in my wall?

About three inches for each head. We seal it inside and out, and the lines outside get a cover so they stay neat and protected from sun and weather.

Do you fix mini-splits you didn't install?

Yes. We work on most brands. We read the fault code, test the parts it points to and give you a written quote before any work begins.

What credentials do you carry for this work?

We are licensed and bonded in Washington and carry $1M general liability insurance. That covers the work inside your home and at the outdoor unit.

What if my mini-split quits overnight?

We answer around the clock for 24/7 emergency HVAC repair. You won't see emergency or after-hours fees on the bill, and we still track down the cause before we replace anything.
